Overview : As the most famous and magical island in Indonesia, Bali blends spectacular mountain scenery and beautiful beaches with warm and friendly people, a vibrant culture and out of this world resorts. Also known as the Land of the Gods, Bali appeals through its sheer natural beauty of looming volcanoes and lush terraced rice fields that exude peace and serenity. This exotic island has much to offer, from rich cuisines to inspirational spirituality seen everywhere in their intricately carved temples. Bali continues to amaze both local and international visitors alike. This is one of the world’s most popular island destinations and one which consistently wins travel awards.

Places to explore:

The Tanah Lot temple is one of Bali’s most important temples, famed for its unique offshore setting and sunset backdrops. The temple’s original name, Tengah Lod means ‘in the sea’ which is only apt as this ancient Hindu shrine is perched on top of an outcrop amidst constantly crashing waves. Complimented by panoramic views and cultural offerings by the locals, which are the other highlights to be seen. Tanah Lot is simply among Bali’s not-to-be-missed icons.

Things to do:

  •  Watch regular Kecak (Monkey Dance) performances at the temple grounds – This dance is about the love story of Prince Rama and Princess Sita from the Ramayana
  •  Shopping at the souvenir shops around the temple for trinkets and memories to take back home
  •  Eat at restaurants – Snacks such as jaja klepon is a must-try and recommended dessert that is made of palm sugar-filled gelatinous balls rolled in grated coconut. All of the restaurants at Tanah Lot serve Es Kelapa Muda, which tastes like chilled young coconut
